Has the rain drowned my energy?

It's downpoured off and on all week. The rain seemed to have washed away my energy--for writing and anything else. I just want to crawl up in a ball under my desk and nap next to the warm fumes of my space heater (my office is always freezing in the summer). Or maybe it's just that I'm dreading revising for some reason? Best Blogger Tips

Hi Bug. I think it's pretty normal to need to rest after a period of productivity, and a rainy day is perfect for that! I took a day off after sending the manuscript and am now on a mission to write at least one craft annotation and a few pages of new writing by tomorrow afternoon.
Leaving for that motorcycle trip next Friday and would LOVE to leave the laptop at home. TI

Thanks TI! I appreciate that you don't think I'm being lazy. :) I bet you can't WAIT for that trip! What a good motivator for you.

Yes, the weather has been lousy lately. Another sign that global warming is heating up, so to speak.

*sigh*

Hey, Bug! It's weird, but everyone I've talked to this week has been feeling funky and tired. We're coming off a full moon and mercury is in retrograde (I'll be devoting a post to this subject soon...and no, I'm not a total crazy cosmic chick).

Bottom line...don't beat yourself up too much. I think it's totally awesome that you have a draft done. All I've been doing is drafting in my HEAD the last two weeks, so you got a leg and several other body parts up on me!

Here's the question: what inpsires you to write or revisit your work? Going to a movie? Reading something light like Cosmo or a chick lit book? Going to a museum? Heading to the ocean? FC suggests taking a day and doing something like that for yourself. I agree with TI--your mind and soul need a break after being so productive!

And if that doesn't work, we'll head to The Happy Swallow in Framingham. THAT'LL be enough to scare you back to your PC. ;)

Good idea to take a break. And it's a good question about what inspires me. I would say all the things you mentioned, but I probably just need to pick one and actually do it.

And Jan, what global warming? Didn't you hear, it's hoax! ;)

Go see the Devil Wears Prada. It's mostly just an entertaining and predictable summer flick, but it is about a writer who has to decide whether or not to sell her soul for her art (I won't tell you the ending!). I took the afternoon off and did that today. It seems I needed more than just a day to recover from sending off the manuscript I've had in my life for the past seven years.
